Dressing for Interview

“First impression is the last impression” this adage is very much true in case of job interview. Interviewers make first judgments whether a particular candidate they are interviewing is suitable for said position or not in just initial few seconds. Apart from how you answer, how you dress for interview is taken into consideration. Therefore dressing is given equal importance as how you prepare yourself for interview. If your resume is not best in crowd, your outfit could help you in projecting your right image which can provide you an edge over your competitors. Candidates will want their first impression not only good one but great one. The Candidates dressed in suits and tie can make better impression than those candidates who dressed in jeans and t-shirts.

For More Formal Interview

The most formal industry like banking, law or brokerage requires formal dressing like a suit and tie. You should choose suit in dark colors like basic black, navy or dark gray with black leather lace-up shoes and a black belt. If you choose blue color for shirts, it is great choice because this color may compliment to various skin complexions and easily coordinates with most suit colors. Select a flattering tie that looks well with both suit and shirt of your choice.

For Less Formal Interview

Software development and technology companies are examples of less formal industry and they will not require suit but it is better to wear something looking very nice than what everyone is wearing in office. You can choose some casual outfits like pressed khakis paints or trousers, well pressed button-down shirt, some sort of nice looking shoe and matching belt. You can also wear a blazer like navy blazers are looking very nice with khaki paints.

Shoes and Belts

You should pay great attention on other details like matching belts and shoes. You can choose black shoes if you wear outfit of dark gray, navy, black or brown color. If you wear light brown or medium toned colors then try for dark brown shoes. You must polish your shoes before interview because scuff marks on your shoes make you look tattered.

Accessories

Use minimal and professional accessories during interview. You can use some sort of transparent bags (Portfolio) to carry your documents. Female candidates should avoid from heavy earrings, necklaces, nose rings and bangles and men should also avoid from neck chain & different bands and use only wristwatch and cufflinks.
