Good First Impression during Job Interview

Therefore it is important that you should be well prepared, relaxed and calm for interview. You should keep smile on your face during interview because it will keep both you and your interviewer at ease. Job interview is very important day for every candidate and your career will be based on it therefore you should not take it lightly. Prepare necessary things for interview like interview attires, educational documents and resume etc. Before interview you should conduct some research about organization where you are going for interview. Research can help you in understanding organizational culture and management style of company. Here are some important points if you keep them in mind and follow them before going to interview then you can create a good first impression.

Appropriate Dressing

Your appearance creates your first impression so it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed. You should select appropriate attires for interview according to industry culture. There are some things that should not be worn at any cost like jeans, sneakers or a baseball cap. Try to select a professional suit in dark color and coordinated shirt and tie. Take a professional haircut and have your hair combed. Your hands especially your finger nails should be trimmed and clean. You can use light colon because some people have allergic problems with strong scents and they can be easily irritated. If you want to use strong scent then make it sure that your potential employer has no such kind of allergies otherwise don’t use it.

Punctuality

Interview is your first face to face meeting with your potential employer and it is also a chance to create good first impression therefore allow you plenty of time for finding the location of your interview. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early and be prepared for any kind of question and paper work. Switch off your sell phones and pagers before you set foot in office.

Smile

It is a fact that every person feels nervous at the time of interview so there is nothing wrong. You should make it sure that you should smile and greet other people in office with a friendly node. Your pleasant attitude tells the employer that you are willing to do job in this organization and feel pleasure to work with them.

Prepare for Interview before Time

You should find out information about history, products and services of organization. If you have some knowledge in advance it can make you calmer and confident that will show your interest in job and organization.

Sit calmly

You should sit still it doesn’t mean to sit motionlessly it means that don’t fidget especially when you are waiting in lobby or reception area. Try to look confident and comfortable with your dressing and with what you are doing.

Don’t Use Slang and Messy Language

When you are greeting interviewer make it sure that don’t use slang terms and filler words like “Um” and “Uh”. Try to keep your language clean, clear and to the point. You can practice this thing at home before interview.

Be Polite

After interview say thanks to the interviewer for giving you time and for considering you for this position. You can make it clear to the interviewer that you are looking for a chance to prove yourself a best candidate for position.
