Interview Tips for Graphics & Web Designer

graphic-designWeb design and graphics is the skill of developing demonstration of content normally hypertext or hypermedia that is delivered to an end-user through www “World Wide Web” by the way of web browser. If you want to join web designer as a career then before getting any job you need to cross very first hurdle named as interview. During interview you are selling yourself so be careful and prepared yourself for interview before the day of interview.

Preparation before Interview

  • Brand yourself like tell about your identity and always remember that the interview is a creative job.
  • There are so many other designers that can do quite better and excellent job then you so be prepared and try to differentiate yourself among the pool of candidates.
  • Design a perfect cover letter and resume for you. These documents should be brief and communicate your whole skills to potential employer.
  • Conduct some research and collect all necessary information about organization and potential employer.
  • Make it sure that your resume should be error free there must be no spelling, typos or grammar mistakes. For this purpose you can proof read it with the help of your friend.
  • Prepare your online portfolio like if you are applying for web designing job then you should mention all latest technologies that you can use.
  • If you want to apply for print designer jobs then you should be creative, simple and easy.
  • If you want to be web developer then you should present your portfolio website but make it sure that don’t add any kind of fancy plug-in.

During Interview

  • Avoid from cancelling or rescheduling of interview.
  • Try to come before time for interview and don’t be ever late.
  • Give a firm and assertive handshake to interviewers and the people at interview place but don’t try to squeeze their hands.
  • Dress appropriately (professionally) according to culture and environment of organization.
  • If you have smoking habit then doesn’t smoke until after interview because most of the people hate the smell of smoke.
  • Be polite and energized and show your interest in said position.
  • Prepare unique answers of all questions and also prepare some questions to ask from interviewer. It will show your interest in job and organization.
  • You can ask questions like “What type of clients do you have?” You can ask questions about workflow and processes of organization and long term goals of the company.
  • Sell yourself and prepare for questions like “reasons of leaving your previous job, Salary requirements, future goals and reason of apply”.
  • Don’t be nervous maintain yourself confidence.

After Interview

You can send a thank you note to employer through mail or e-mail this act can refresh you in the memories of potential employer. Always remember that be careful avoid from extra and unnecessary details. Send thank you letter or note as soon as possible like within 2-3 days if interview.
