Telephone interview is a part of recruitment process to select best and competent candidates. Telephonic interviews are generally conducted for short listing of clients or candidates. A successful telephonic interview may lead towards personal face to face interview. Here are some special tips regarding telephonic interview to be scanned out for face-to-face interview.
The pre-preparation of a telephonic interview must be given same importance as that to face-to-face interview with slight differences:
- Prepare your all documents ready for interview as interviewer can call you for interview at any time. It can also happen that you may not be sitting at your home to take your documents therefore make a list of your accomplishments and other details on a paper to carry all time with you in your pocket to prevent any problem. If you have given only landline number than place your document file near telephone set so that you may not need to ask for holding to interviewer.
- When you come to know that you are having an interview call then go to some quite and peaceful room for interview and keep battery of your mobile phone fully charged all the time.
Note some impressive short points that you would speak during interview and get ready with pen, paper, calculator and calendar to note down some important information.- If you receive a surprise call from interviewer be confident and relaxed, avoid sounding perturbed. Empty your mouth before receiving call and don’t chew gum or smoke during talking. Never speak with your mouth full.
- If employer asks about your achievements, tell him with some practical examples.
- Be natural during speaking and avoid from styles in your voice.
- Before giving interview confirm the company and employer name.
- If you need time for thinking during interview ask for it, don’t remain silent like dead air time in radio.
- Know your resume very well because interviewer will try to match your particulars with your resume.
- Speak to-the-point and end up the interview call with compliments.
