There are many steps involved when obtaining desirable employment and among these it is necessary to learn that how to accept a job interview. A potential employer carefully evaluates all candidates before their selection. A candidate often excited when he receives a phone call for an interview but it is important to seem eager and not desperate. Sometimes after receiving an interview call candidates conduct some critical mistakes and if you want to make your interview successful you should follow some practices when accepting a job interview. You should sound formative when offering to accept a job interview according to the convenience of potential employer. However you can run the risk of appearing lazy and de-motivated if you state that you are available at anytime.

An improved response provide an indication that you are busy in dealing with other options as well but you are giving top priority to job interview and preference will be given in scheduling. However it can seem like small difference but truth is that interviewers are constantly considering you from a number of angles.

Prepare for a Call

• You should prepare at least 15 minutes to accept a job interview call either you are accepting incoming call or returning potential employer’s call. Always remember that when you are going to conduct call make it sure that don’t sound rushed or distracted. This job interview call will only take few minutes but you will leave a buffer of time in case your interview is chatty.
• You should keep pencil and paper close to your phone set because you will need to take notes on exact time, location and all other details about upcoming job interview.
• You should check your email or mailbox for job interview offers as well because some companies prefer these ways as a means of communication with job applicant.

Accept Job Interview

• You should return offer by using same way you received it. For a while if potential employer contacted you by phone you should call employer back at same number and try to speak to same person if possible. If you are contacted by email then you will also respond electronically.
• You should accept job interview with kindness and brevity. Say thanks to employer for opportunity and try to stay on phone only long enough to gather all information you will need for interview. This type of attitude shows that you are valuing his/her time.
• You can call your potential employer to confirm day before interview if you are offered an interview various days former to actual interview date. If you are offered interview on short notice then there is no need to confirm.

Attend Job Interview

• You should attend job interview in appropriate attires according to the culture of work place. You can select your attires on the basis of job requirements this can range from formal attire to business casual “slacks, button down shirt, polo shirt” to blue jeans and a T-shirt.
• You must thank employer for opportunity of interview with him/her and make it sure to follow up a thank you call, email or hand written note within three days after interview.
