Job Description of IT Manager

ITThe information technology manager is responsible for installing computer hardware, software and networks. The Information technology manager reports to Senior Administrative Officer & manager and provides hardware, software maintenance along with training, consultation and recommendations about future planning & development of resources. He is liable to provide these services in effective and efficient manner to ensure maximum access and implementation of   technology and services resources.

Job Responsibilities

Major responsibilities of IT Manager include:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluating operations of information technology and EDP “Electronic Data Processing”.
  • He is liable to develop and implement policies and procedures of electronic data processing (EDP) and information systems.
  • Discuss the requirement, specifications and cost time lines with managers.
  • Make it sure that the technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
  • Control budget and expenditure of computer systems
  • Hire and manage personnel for information systems, contractors to design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunication software, networks and information systems.

Activities

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system.
  • Familiarize him/her self with all hardware, software and network operating system.
  • Provide proper orientation to new users.
  • Provide necessary and individual trainings to staff about potential uses about existing technology.
  • Install work station.
  • Provide network access to all staff.
  • Load all necessary and required software.
  • Provide necessary accounts and passwords.
  • Install and maintain foolproof and passwords.
  • Monitor security of all technology.
  • Input and maintain IP addresses.
  • Ensure installation of lock out programs.
  • Teach staff about security breach and change in passwords and also teach them about security status.
  • Prepare hardware for disposal at appropriate time.
