Various candidates have complaint that job interview is a later step and they don’t even get interview calls. Therefore there is a list of important things that you need to take care in order to ensure interview call.
Choose Your Career
Career selection is important component of your success. Sometime students think that they have determined their right career path and have nothing to worry about in near future. As a result when after completion of education fresh graduates hit job market they have no orientation of which industry suits their requirements. These candidates often choose wrong lines. If you have studied a specified course then there are various industries that offer you job. Sometimes fresh graduates miss good job opportunities because they have no idea of some niches that are available for them.
Maintain Your Network
If you want to get job right after college then you should maintain an active network of teachers, colleagues and other acquaintances. It will improve your chances of getting job interview by recommendations or simply by forwarding your resume to relevant departments. The stronger network provides you better chances of securing a job interview.
Social Networking Websites
Social networking websites are an effective medium for finding jobs. You should maintain a professional profile on these social networking sites because employers have developed a tendency to look at profiles of job applicants to make sure that they are choosing right person.
Application Process
The most trying and testing phase of job hunt is dropping off CVs at various places and wait for call of an interview. Several people believe that higher number of applications increase their chances of success. Such candidates are conducting mistakes as this doesn’t have any positive effect on your job search. The best way is to find jobs relevant to your field because potential employers expressly want a fresh graduate. It is important that you focus your energy on fruitful prospect rather than wasting time in wild goose chase.
Customize Your Resume
You should customize your resume for each job that you apply to instead of sending a generalized resume to all openings. The objective of each job should be modified and skills set for each job should be different. Your resume must cater requirements of employer so put more emphasis on skills that have most value for specific employer. You can prepare an impressive cover letter stating reason for applying and things that proves you perfect candidate for job. Keep your cover letter concise and short by ensuring that there are no typos and spelling errors in cover letter and resume. Employer will send your cover letter and resume in basket if he/she notice any mistake. In last ensure that you include all important projects and assignments that will show your capabilities to potential employer.
Decrease Your Expectations
One of major mistakes that fresh graduates generally make is their expectations to get dream job right away. These are unrealistic expectations and make it harder for candidate to get job. If you are asking for a pay scale that is not in accordance with your skills, you are conducting a mistake. A fresh graduate needs to lower his/her expectations and be ready to work for less pay. You can get valuable experience from your first job. Once you get experience you will be able to ask for pay scale according to your expectations and employer will be more willing to accept.
Prepare Well For Interview
After getting interview call you should be fully prepared for interview session. Do your home work like conduct research and practice a lot to make sure that you don’t make any huge mistake when you appeared for interview. You should dressed appropriately and follow all interview etiquettes.
